Maintenance of Proficient Teacher accreditation
When you complete a Minds Wide Open course, if you have a proficient teacher accreditation in NSW you are eligible for hours to maintain that accreditation.

The process of getting your hours
Once you have completed in full your Minds Wide Open course, we go into the NESA database, cross-reference your name (confirming we have the correct person) and assign your course participation and validate it as you have attended and satisfactorily completed the course.
Once we have completed our process, NESA will send you an e-mail notifying you of this to your allocated e-mail address. Our process getting this into the NESA system varies from near instantly from the completion of the course to a month (or longer if varying third part factors occur).
Once we have entered in your information, to ‘finalise’ receiving your hours, you will need to complete the evaluation in your NESA account so your #-hours of PL will show in your PD Progress Report in your online account. Please go here to Manage your Accreditation with eTAMS: etams.nesa.nsw.edu.au. For a quick how to guide, scroll to the bottom of the page titled ‘How to evaluate NESA Registered PD’.
This is a requirement from NESA, not Minds Wide Open.
If you have any trouble with the evaluation, please email NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) at firstname.lastname@example.org or call Teaching Standards on 1300 739 338.
Frequent hurdles many teachers face
How do I know I’ve got my hours?
Until you’ve done that survey required by NESA inside their system, your hours are not in the system. NESA is a large government body with many moving parts, sometimes things take longer than we’d like them to. At Minds Wide Open we uphold our requirements as a provider, but sometimes the system we’re a part of moves slowly/has errors. Best to wait for an e-mail saying the course you completed is ready to be validated by you completing the survey.
What happens if I didn’t receive my e-mail?
There’s a few things. The First (not at all patronising, sorry) is most simple explanation - the failure of the e-mail itself. Sometimes it ends up in a junk folder, sometimes it could be sent to a wrong/old address and even sometimes you did receive it but the labeling was misleading and you processed it as ‘not relevant’. If you’re concerned the best way to check is to log on and see if the course is there. eTAMS etams.nesa.nsw.edu.au
However usually e-mails do work as they should and may not have been sent yet - so what happens if you haven’t received the e-mail if that’s the case? Depends on when you did the course.
If you did the course in the last 30 days or less, this is normal to not have the e-mail yet, all you have to do is wait a bit longer.
If it’s 30 days to 60 days, NESA have expressed ‘due to sheer numbers’ they sometimes fall behind processing and that has been a valid reason in the past for course evaluations not showing up in your account.
After 60-75 days, check your eTAMS etams.nesa.nsw.edu.au the course may be there despite the lack of e-mail notification.
If it is not inside your account by that stage, something really is a miss and should be explored further. Read on.
Please note MyPL is not the same as eTAMS - MyPL is an organisational tool which many school communities and individuals use to help organise themselves and others. If a Minds Wide Open course is in your MyPL it is not automatically in NESA and vice versa.

leaving the course early?
were you in the system prior to attending the course?
doing the course in different parts (reverse order)?
